Yin yoga is an ideal way to balance out the outward flowing forces of a busy and active life. The poses are held for around 5 minutes, and we stay close to the earth, using the floor and bolsters for support. The science of stretching is an evolving field, and for those seeking to improve flexibility, yin yoga is understood to be one of the most effective techniques. By spending some time resting into a stretch, the nervous system and musculoskeletal system allow for greater range of motion around the joints. Yin yoga particularly works to improve mobility in the hips, pelvis, and spine. It's also one of the more subtle and meditative styles of yoga, with ample space for contemplation. We recommend this class to people who have sitting jobs, people with fatigue, those who run and do higher intensity exercise, and those who have a vinyasa or ashtanga vinyasa style yoga practice, as it is an ideal way to balance your system. Try it for yourself. We recommend not eating too much before your class for the most comfortable experience. Yin can be quite cooling so wear a warm layer.
